Specialist and Eco Status
Maths and Computing Specialism
Robertsbridge Community College has been a Maths and Computing College for seven years. This means that the college has been recognised as excelling in these areas, both in terms of pupil performance and the opportunities offered to our students. The college was recently recognised for it’s good work and re-designated as a Maths and Computing College for the next four years.
Outside of the curriculum, students enjoy many different activities such as Maths Competitions, visits to businesses that use I.T. and hosting Team Tournaments on a National Level (we came fourth in the South East Region this year!). Also, being a Maths and Computing College allows students to benefit from extra-curricular opportunities in all of their subjects through the S.T.E.M. network: http://www.stemnet.org.uk/
Eco Status
Robertsbridge Community College is an “Eco Green Flag” school. It received this designation in 2010 and this will last for two years before re-assessment.
The College had to demonstrate; improved energy efficiency, reduction in water waste, reduction in litter, and improved performance in recycling/waste management, including food waste.
Led by the Premises Manager, the College has a team of student “Eco saviours” who regularly monitor the above and investigate “green initiatives” that may be applicable to the College. They also take part in Eco and Climate challenges when possible.
We are proud of the improvements that we have made to make the College more Eco Friendly, and were delighted to find that since 2009 we have become far more efficient with our energy usage.
