Admissions Arrangements for Robertsbridge Community College

Robertsbridge Community College accepts students in Years 7 to 11.

The usual September admission procedures for 11-year-old students are administered by East Sussex County Council.

In-year admissions (where a student is admitted part way through the academic year) are sometimes possible, but please be aware that Robertsbridge Community College is generally oversubscribed in most year groups so it may, subject to circumstances, be necessary to join a waiting list.

For information on the availability of places for in-year admissions please contact Hanna Stedman. In-year admission applications are processed by East Sussex County Council.

The arrangements used for all admissions are those set by East Sussex County Council which are provided on their website linked below.

About Selection

We do not select on ability: Robertsbridge Community College is a comprehensive school.

Over-Subscription Criteria

Robertsbridge Community College is very popular and as such is routinely oversubscribed as first-choice school for entry into Year 7. The school also usually has waiting lists in place for in-year admissions into other year groups.

Categories of children who may be prioritised when applications are processed include those set out below. East Sussex County Council set the admissions criteria and their website should be consulted for definitive information.

  • Looked after children and children who were looked after, but ceased to be so because they were adopted (or subject to residence orders or special guardianship orders) immediately following being looked after.
  • Children who will have a brother or sister at the school (or linked junior school) at the time of admission and who live at the same address, within the pre-defined community area of the school.
  • Other children living within the pre-defined community area of the school.
  • Children who will have a brother or sister at the school (or linked junior school) at the time of admission who live at the same address, outside the pre-defined community area of the school.

In the event of oversubscription within any priority, place allocation will be decided by prioritising applications on the basis of home-to-school distance measured in a straight line.

  • Notes:
Children qualify as ‘siblings’ if they are full, half, adoptive or foster brother or sister living in the same household, including siblings attending sixth forms.
  • Each home address in the county falls within a community area although living in a community area does not guarantee a place. For more details please consult the East Sussex County Council website.
