Prospective Parents
Welcome to Robertsbridge Community College
Ambition. Pride. Respect.
Thank you for your interest in Robertsbridge Community College.
We are a school that believes in excellence – not just in academic outcomes, but in conduct, character and contribution. Our values of Ambition, Pride and Respect underpin everything we do. They shape our expectations, our culture, and the way we develop young people.
We are proud to be a school for families who value hard work, high standards, and strong moral purpose. Students at Robertsbridge are expected to aim high – in the classroom, in their behaviour, and in the way they treat others. In return, they are supported by a team of dedicated staff who know them well and care deeply about their progress.
This page offers a clear picture of what life at Robertsbridge is like – what we stand for, how we support our students, and what you can expect from the transition process

Academic Focus. Strong Relationships. High Expectations.
Robertsbridge is a school for families who value high standards – in behaviour, in learning, and in character. Our students are expected to work hard, act with integrity, and take pride in themselves and their school. In return, they are taught in calm, focused classrooms by subject specialists who care about their progress and know how to get the best from them.
Last summer, our students achieved the strongest GCSE results the school has seen in five years – outperforming both local and national averages. That success comes from a clear structure, ambitious teaching, and the belief that every student is capable of achieving something excellent.
We are a small school by design – and that brings real benefits. Every student is known. No one slips through the cracks. Relationships are strong, and students feel supported, challenged and seen. We set the bar high, and we help young people rise to it.

Character. Confidence. Contribution.
While academic achievement is central, we know that success goes beyond grades. That’s why we place just as much emphasis on building character. Students are encouraged to develop resilience, confidence, leadership and independence – and to carry themselves with purpose and maturity.
From the Duke of Edinburgh Award and student leadership opportunities, to a rich programme of clubs, sport, creative arts and performance, students are actively encouraged to get involved beyond the classroom. It’s not just about adding to a CV – it’s about building the kind of confidence that lasts a lifetime.
We’re fortunate to have outstanding facilities to support this wider development – including a dedicated drama studio, a sprung-floor dance studio, modern science labs, a large sports hall and vast green spaces. But more important than the facilities is the ethos that drives them: a belief in opportunity, participation and ambition.

A Supported Start
The transition to secondary school is a significant moment – and we take great care to make it a smooth and successful one.
Our transition team works closely with local primary schools throughout the year. We speak to teachers, visit classrooms, and gather detailed information to ensure we understand each student’s needs before they arrive. As part of this process, students are invited to name friends in advance – and wherever possible, we place them in the same form group to help them settle and feel confident from day one.
During the summer term, all new students attend two full Taster Days. These are an opportunity to get to know staff, explore the site, and start forming early friendships. For those who may benefit from additional support, we offer early visits, a buddy system, and targeted mentoring through our SEND and pastoral teams. Support continues well into Year 7, with regular check-ins and a strong emphasis on personal development and wellbeing.
