Careers Education: Information for Employers and Post-16 Providers 

At Robertsbridge Community College, we are committed to providing our students with comprehensive careers education, advice, and guidance to prepare them for their future. We believe that strong partnerships with employers and post-16 providers are crucial in helping students make informed decisions about their next steps, whether in further education, apprenticeships, or the workplace.

We invite businesses, colleges, and training providers to engage with our students to provide them with invaluable insights into the world of work and education.

How You Can Get Involved 

We offer a range of opportunities for employers and post-16 providers to engage with our students:

1. Career Talks and Workshops

  • Share your knowledge and experiences by delivering talks or hosting workshops to students about your sector or field.
  • Workplace Skills Workshops: Help students develop essential employability skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.

2. Work Experience Placements

  • Provide meaningful work experience for Year 10 students to help them understand the expectations and realities of the workplace.
  • Placement Duration: Typically, placements last one week.

3. Apprenticeship and Post-16 Pathways Information

  • Engage with students through post-16 information sessions to highlight apprenticeship opportunities, traineeships, and vocational qualifications that your organisation offers.
  • T Levels and Technical Education: Promote your courses or vocational qualifications to students interested in practical career paths.

4. Careers Fairs and Networking Events

  • Participate in our annual Careers Fair where students can meet with employers, colleges, universities, and apprenticeship providers.
  • Network with students, parents, and staff to share information about your organisation or courses.

5. Mentoring and Interview Preparation

  • Become a mentor or help prepare students for the world of work by conducting mock interviews and offering feedback.
  • Support students with their CV writing and job application skills through workshops or individual sessions.

6. Site Visits and Workplace Tours

  • Host students for site visits or workplace tours, giving them first-hand experience of different industries and working environments.
  • These visits provide valuable context for their career planning and inspire interest in specific sectors. 

Gatsby Benchmarks and Compliance 

We adhere to the Gatsby Benchmarks for good careers guidance, ensuring that our careers programme meets national standards. By partnering with us, you will help us fulfil these benchmarks, particularly those relating to encounters with employers and experiences of workplaces (Benchmarks 5 and 6).

For Post-16 Providers 

As students prepare for their post-secondary options, we provide them with detailed information on the various pathways, including A-levels, T Levels, BTECs, apprenticeships, and vocational courses. We welcome colleges, universities, and training providers to engage with our students through:

  • Information Sessions: Provide presentations on your courses and application processes.
  • Open Days and Taster Events: Promote your open days and encourage students to explore your courses.
  • Support with Applications: Assist students with applications for post-16 or post-18 study, including advice on UCAS, apprenticeships, and vocational pathways.

We aim to offer students comprehensive support and welcome post-16 providers to be part of this journey.
