Careers Education at Robertsbridge Community College
At Robertsbridge Community College, we are dedicated to preparing our students for the world of work, helping them explore career options, develop essential skills, and plan their futures. Our Careers Education program is designed to support students at every stage of their journey, ensuring they make informed decisions about their education, training, and employment options.
Why Careers Education Matters
Careers Education plays a vital role in helping students:
- Understand the world of work – Gain insight into different industries, job roles, and the skills needed to succeed.
- Develop key skills – Improve transferable skills like communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership.
- Make informed choices – Explore different post-secondary options, including apprenticeships, university, vocational training, and employment.
- Build confidence – Learn how to present themselves professionally in interviews, applications, and networking situations.
What We Offer
Our Careers Education programme includes a variety of opportunities to help students plan for their future:
- Personalised Careers Guidance
All students have access to one-on-one guidance sessions with our careers advisor, Mrs Coxeter, who will help them explore career paths, set goals, and create action plans.

- Careers Workshops and Lessons
We offer dedicated careers lessons and workshops that focus on key topics such as:
- Writing CVs and cover letters
- Interview skills
- Job search strategies
- Exploring higher education and apprenticeship options
- Work Experience
Year 10 students take part in work experience placements, giving them a chance to gain real-world experience and develop professional skills.
- Career Fairs and Employer Engagement
Students can attend career fairs and employer talks where they meet representatives from a range of industries. These events provide valuable insights and networking opportunities.
- University and Apprenticeship Guidance
For students considering higher education or apprenticeships, we offer information sessions and contact with a range of P18 providers within our information evenings and events.
- Access to Online Resources Through Our Padlet
Students can access a range of online tools to help explore career options, find job opportunities, and plan their next steps:

Careers Education by Year Group
Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9)
Students begin exploring different career pathways through:
- Introduction to a variety of careers
- Understanding skills and qualifications needed for different jobs
- Employability Skills lessons once a fortnight
- Linking curriculum learning to careers
Key Stage 4 (Years 10-11)
Students receive more focused careers support to help them choose post-16 options:
- Work experience placements
- Employer talks and career fairs
- Guidance on GCSE subject choices and their impact on future careers
- Post 16 Taster Days
- College/Post 16 Application Support
Support for Parents
We encourage parents to play an active role in their child’s career development. We provide resources and information to help parents support their children in making informed decisions about their future.
