Ofsted Inspection: September 2022

The College received an ungraded inspection on 28 and 29 September 2022 and remains ‘Good’. A graded inspection will be carried out within the next two years. This inspection was our second ungraded one since the last graded one in 2013.

During the inspection, the inspectors noted how strong relationships are across the College, and that students trust their teachers - students feel that their teachers really do care about them, and they know who to speak to if they need help. Inspectors found the College to be a very caring and nurturing community.

The inspection team commented on the strength of leadership across the College, acknowledging the huge journey of improvement we are currently on. They recognised the substantial change that has been made since the last inspection and were confident that we have the capacity to realise our ambitions and to embed change over time. The team were impressed with our staff, noting how open and honest they were during the inspection.

Inspectors also recognised the strength of our revamped curriculum, which they felt is well thought through and sequenced. Inspectors found that behaviour within lessons is good and agreed with us that there is further work to do in settling conduct outside of lessons. Another area that they noted is some of the effective work we have done to tackle bullying, while also agreeing with us that there is still much work to do in this area.

Moving forward, the report identifies three areas for us to work on. These are all areas already reflected in our improvement priorities and 5-year strategic plan, so none came as a surprise to us. We are very much looking forward to our next inspection as an opportunity to showcase the further improvements we have made to the College.
